double ootd!

I had a double shift of looking fabulous today! I worked at Allure during the day and then went out for Housewarming and birthday parties. Here is my work ootd.

Head to Toe: Jacket INC macy's
Dress: Ross
Tights: target
Shoes: Naturlizers: Steinmart
Dog tail: Rylee

I love these little booties from Naturlizer. They are pretty comfortable to wear for the whole day and they don't make my ankles look two boney. These were a gift from my awesome mom. Most of this post was either purchased by, given by or loaned from my mom. Also she watched my kid for me last night. I'm pretty lucky on the mom front! Thanks mommy!

After work I dropped my boy off, we saw the Lightrail on the way and Andrew was so excited! He also said my Christmas music was too Dowd (loud).

We went to our awesome friends The Pelc's house, Mrs Seabron Pelc is the original Baby Bird! and followed up to dinner with Alex's side for his 2 bestest friends who share a day of birth. We were originally going to go for a show after so I had to dress cute but comfortably. I am getting to tired of having sore feet at the end of the night so for one of the first times EVER I wore a pair of flat boots out instead of heels. here is my party/dinner/show outfit.

Head to Toe: Jacket: on loan form mom, purchased in Montana
Dress: Target
Clutch:Vintage
Tights:Target
Boots:Gifted from mom

We stopped by The pelcs;s house first and had some quick bird hangs. Seabron and Cory's new house is beautiful.

Alex and Seabs hang out in the new kitchen!

How cute is this heart in her yard!

We didn't end up going to a show after all, but we had a great dinner at Deluxe, then we checked out a super hipster bowling alley which had just opened. Punch Bowl Social was crazy crowed but looked like a fun place for hangs. We eventually ventured to The Hornet for a night cap. All in all great night!

Happy Birthday Buddies! And thanks again to my mom for Babysitting!

If I don't post before have a great Thanksgiving! -MB

A horse of a different color

So as I said in my last post, I have changed my hair over the years. Usually some shade of blond or strawberry blond. Every once in a while you need to shake it up. Here is a photo dump of some of my photos over the years. One of these photos include a really bad set of extensions, wore them once. bad idea.

Yes, that last one is of the extensions. looked even worst from the back! Just an FYI we were on a tram in Vegas. very serious stuff.

Some different hairstyle for Kathy and Christen as well!  I say its just hair, if you want to try something new, try it! Just have a talented professional do it so you don't fry your hair.

Motherbird makeover

I did something today that I used to do All the time! I had my hair colored a new hue! I used to change the color of my hair pretty regularly but as the salon as really excelled over the past years we've gotten so busy that its hard to do upkeep so I have just been plain old greyhead blond. Anwhoodle I loved having my hear red in the past so my pal Sheena G conjured up a formula and used a brand new Redken technique to change my locks. I did want to stay as light as possible but deepen up my color. here are a few before shots!

The blond hair is really pretty and easy for me to keep healthy and I think that's why I haven't felt the need to change it. Also my mom and husband prefer it blond. I, however just like the thrill of the change! Here are my after shots, please excuse my sad face. I have a cold.

I did have my brows colored and shaped as well. I am super happy with my new hair! I think I want to add a few more golden Ombre pieces to the front but The red is exactly how I imagined it! Thanks again to the OG ginja ninja Sheen Bean for staying late and hooking me up!

Vacation adventures part 1

It's been a while since I have been able to post here on the Motherbird. My family went on a vacation to the East coast and attended an amazing wedding. As soon as we got home I had 2 days to create some Halloween costumes for Alex and to wear to our favorite party of the year!

I am amazed by the people who are able to travel constantly, whether for business or personal. We find it very stressful and disrupting. although we are always happy to see our friends and family we fell a bit anxious and worried throughout the trip. Part of this is because in 2011 our house was burglarized while we were out of town for ONE night.  Having your house vandalized is the worst, knowing some person was in your home. Scaring your poor cat and going through your things. We were so fortunate that nothing irreplaceable was taken and that no one, including the cat we injured. None the less we are no nervous to leave our home unattended. I am so grateful that my friend Kooj was willing to disrupt her life for a week and take care of our house. Thank god for friends. Having someone here settled our minds as much as possible.

My husband and I are creatures of habit, we like our schedules and beds and shows. However sometimes you gotta get away, see family and attend the ceremonies of very important people. We were fortunate to start our east coast vacations with a trip to a good friends family farm house. An amazing house with lush surroundings. No cell or reliable internet service. No radio or television. just 3 days of talking, eating and being with our child and friends.  The farm house is one of my favorite places ever, mostly because it reminds me of my summers in Oil City P.A at my grandparents house. I love that small town country living, at least for the short term.

We stare our festivities on the shore with a little Co-ed bachlorette party for the bride to be, Meg.

The boys enjoyed some frog hunting in the pond.

 Gorgeous view off the dock

Nothing like cake and tequila to send a girl off right.

Our second day included a impromptu hay ride across the farm to the neighboring Emu and Llama farm .

We scored an Emu egg which I scrambled up one morning. It was pretty weird, mostly yolk.

City boys being able to run freely!

We were able to take a few nature walk/carries and got plenty of fresh air!

HAHA Kid is so sick of the camera.

These wonderful people are the Bailey's, our host for the weekend and Andrews BFF's family.

It was great to spend some time just connecting with  my son. We are so busy all the time bustling here and there, that it was great to just run around with no plans or schedule. We finished our days at the shore and drove directly to Alexandria for Megs wedding, which I will talk about in my next post. This was pretty much our first family vacation since Andrew was born and it was really fun.

Hope everyone else has had a good fall. Also hoping that this house and all our friends and families properties on the east coast survive hurricane Sandy.
