Yee-Haw!

On Sunday we went to the 2nd Annual Denver County Fair! It was a pretty crazy weekend as usual for us but we wanted to go to the fair to see the chickens and goats!

Our first stop was the petting Zoo!I took Andrew to the fair last year and he was too small for the Zoo so I was excited for him to try it out. As usual my boy is always shy and it takes a bit of warming up for him to have fun.

  Goats are pushy for pellets.

This Alpaca was so soft.

I wouldn't mind having an alpaca or two. He was the nicest animal in the petting zoo.

Andrew tries a pellet. Good enough for the goats good enough for me, he says!

Goats are pissed, "Don't eat our pellets!".

I Didn't take an outfit photo but this one is pretty close.
What I Wore:
Necklace: Etsy

Top: Mom
Bag: same vintage bag I've been carrying for a week:  Thrifted.
Jegguns: Target
Boots: Chinese Laundry (DSW?)

It was a little hot for these boots but I pull them out early each summer. Wishful thinking maybe.

This donkey was partial to Alex and Andrew, even though he was a little over stuffed and not overly interested in pellets.

After the petting zoo we threw Andrew into the bounce castle. Again he was a little nervous, but warmed up right when it was time to go.

The fair was fun, but it seemed pretty expensive for what it was. We usually do a lot of stuff on the weekend so we are used to shelling out cash for stuff but the fair seemed a little unreasonable. i felt bad for the vendors because I doubt the were selling much stuff. We spent about 60 bucks just to get in, park, sandwiches and the petting zoo.

Did any of my other Denver peeps go to the fair? let me know!

OOTD, built for comfort not for speed.

 Hi all,

Today I am pretty tired, Andrew got up early and my foot hurts! I have some Plantar Fasciitis in my left foot that is acting up because I walked around in super old flip flops all weekend. I originally put on these trouser jeans so that I could wear my Keen Mary Janes (lunch lady shoes) but it was too hot so I settled for these instead.

Head to Toe:
Sunglasses:same
Blouse: Target
Necklace: Sue Lion, purchased at Willow
Jeans:Target
Shoes: Crocs
Clutch:Thrifted

I picked up this clutch on a thrifting trip on Monday and I love it! Its actually a pretty good quality leather and I gave it a good cleaning with some leather luster!

It is the 2nd bag in my soon to be 80s clutch collection, according to my mom I only need 3 of something to have a collection! This bag is actually pretty big and I stuffed a ton of crap into it. It reminds me a football so...

GO BRONCOS!!!

Also on Monday, my mom and her BFF, Andrew and I went to Historic Downtown Littleton where I picked up this beautiful little locket at Willow. I wore it yesterday however and it scratched up my chest a little so I paired it with a higher neck shirt today.

Last but not least, these shoes. I have had these bad boys for about 4 years! I wear them to death every summer and they are getting a little faded but they are so comfy. I mean seriously they are CROCS! you can wear them for hours and feel like your in a heel and a croc! Good stuff.

It's getting late and I am wrecked so its off for an early bedtime tonight, have a good one!

Awesome people

Disclaimer: i am about to use the word awesome...A LOT.

I saw this guy on he Colbert report tonight and I was impressed by how healthy and vibrant he was. I would have guessed that he was about 75 but he is 93!

Pete Seeger

Mr Seeger is a Banjo player , singer, songwriter who has worked with and outlived a lot of the greats. He is an OH (original Hipstah). Watching the interview with him I couldn't help but think, dude, this guy is awesome. It inspired me to post about the some other famous people who are awesome.

These awesome people are in no particular order.

Kevin Clash

Kevin Clash is the voice of the furry red baby monster known as Elmo. Because I have a toddler in the house I am no stranger to the 'mo, however I didn't know about Kevin until I saw a documentary called "Being Elmo, a puppeteers journey". Whether you have kids or not, if you need inspiration you should catch this movie. I saw it on Netflix.  Kevin has been playing the voice of Elmo since the  80's and he is the one who originated the Elmo philosophy that makes his so popular "Elmo Loves Everybody". I don't want to say too much about Kevin because I want you to see the Documentary. But he is most definitely awesome.

When I was a kid I love the Roseanne show. It was about a tight family unit with normal everyday problems. I am pretty sure I watched it every season until the last, when I was in high school  and didn't watch much other than cute boys on the NGHS drumline.  Something I loved about Roseanne even then was that she never apologized for who she was, fat, loud, bossy, loving, funny, devoted.  She just made her joke and lived her (scripted life). Most recently I caught the only season of "Roseanne's Nuts: and as an adult I admired her in a new way. She was still herself, Fat, Loud, Bossy etc, but she was also Feminist, Empathic, Mother. Roseanne is Awesome and I kinda wanna be just like her... only still me.

Julia Child

OK I will admit I didn't know much about Julia Child until I saw "Julie&Julia" which I know a lot of people hated, but I loved it and it is one of my top 5. After seeing the film I did what I walsya do a started reading up on MS. Child on the internet. Coincidentally my mother in law sent me a copy of "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and so my love affair with Juila began. What can you say about a woman who fell in love in her 30's became famous in her 50's and won an Emmy at 89? Goes to show that you should never let someone tell you that you are too old for something, whether it be that Hello kitty tee, long hair or having babies. You have no expiration date!

"If fear of food continues, it will be the death of gastronomy in the United States. Fortunately, the French don't suffer from the same hysteria we do. We should enjoy food and have fun. It is one of the simplest and nicest pleasures in life."
-Julia Child, Who by the way was rumored to be a spy!

 Betty White

" Thank you for being a friend... travel down the road and back again". I love Betty white and all of the golden girls, this was another of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I will admit that I watched it on lifetime in the morning while getting ready for work for about 5 years. I have seen every episode at least twice. What I love most about Betty though isn't her amazing roll as Rose Nylund but her attitude now, having a career resurgence at 90 years old and handling it with grace and poise, and the occasional peen joke (love a good peen joke).  Also nice work on keeping your hair platinum and your lips pink for 50 years!

My last awesome person should come to no surprise. In fact I am not even going to write much of a blib. You all know and love him, and if you don't you should watch his work again.

Neil Patrick Harris

You always make me laugh, you look great in a suit and "when I start to feel bad, I just stop and start being awesome instead". I am going to repeat that to myself for the rest of my years.

Who are your favorite awesome people? Have a good one kids.

Sunday Family Funday!

What a fun day we had today! We all went to Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood Co for Andrew's best friend Henry's 2nd birthday! The park was only about 15 minutes from our house and really nice, I can't believe I had never been there before today.

Andrew and Henry have been doing nanny share together since they were born and really are best buddies! Also my husband has been friends with his parents for lots and lots of years. We started out just hanging out in the sand.

But the sand can only be so fun for so long! All the kids started wading in the water. Andrew always starts out timid but once he is adjusted he loves the water

Beings that this was a 2nd birthday party we stopped our water play so that Henry could blow out his candle!

They had cupcakes from Denver's, Church of Cupcakes which was formerly known as Lovely Confection. Not sure how I feel about the name change but I can say that they make the best chocolate ganache in town!

...and then it was back to the beach fun!

Haha it took Connor forever to blow up this raft!

But after hard work and dedication...Success!

The kids had a great time and Andrew was fast asleep before we left the parking lot!

Alex got a shot of us at a red light

What a fun Sunday morning, after we got home and cleaned up Andrew took a nap while we watched a movie. Then we went on a short cruiser bike ride to Barnum park.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I am finishing mine off with some housework and a little thrifting.  Hoping to find a new 80's clutch because I have decided that I would like a good collection of them!

OOTD, LBD and sunburn

Yesterday we trekked it up north to water world. Good lord I was definitely young last time I went because the water park kicked my ass. I applied lots of sunblock but at one part I got brave and put on some tanning lotion. I immediatly covered it with sunblock but I still got a little toasted along my suit lines and my scalp.

It wasnt easy to clean myself up for work this morning so I wore this super easy and comfortable LBD.

I borrowed this dress from my mom a few months ago to wear to an event. I should mention that my moms LOVES to shop and has amassed a pretty awesome collection of cocktail dresses.Lucky for me we wear about the same size! This one is an Adrienne Vittadini that still had the tags on it. It is very well made with a thicker fabric, but isn't too warm for summer. I knew it had to live with me so iItraded my mom some moisturizer for it.

Head to Toe:
Dress:  Mom, Ross?
Necklace and earrings: Gift from Alex
Shoes: DSW

The dress a a funky little asymmetrical ruffle on it, that makes it stand out. It is pretty low cut though so I have to wear a cami under it. Wore it to work once with out a cami and felt like a tramp, wore it that way to the gay club and felt like a goddess!

Alex surprised me with this necklace and earring set on my last birthday. He actually gave me a step ladder as my gift first and then, with me trying to hide my disappointment, he had me "test it out" by reaching above the cabinet to find the jewelry.  Andrew was pretty small then and we were still adjusting and  exhausted so it was a fun moment.

Pretty sure I don't actually have a bald spot, but you never know. I need my to have color done.

I feel like I look more serious than I felt at the time. Alex took these pictures of my when I got home today and I worked and then went to Costco so I was tired and ready to take off my shoes. Speaking of shoes these guys are not too bad. I like the vintage look and they are Naturalizers with a lot of arch support so I can wear them for a while. I have to admit I was hating on them pretty bad in the middle of my bi-weekly Costco trip.  After looking at these picture though they are starting to get a bit scuffed at the toe.

Look at those busted toes! Water world yesterday trashed em and we are going to lake tomorrow so I figure they will get even worse so i will have to paint them Monday. I should be embarrassed about those, but strangely I am not.

Alex likes to take pics so I hammed it up for a sec...

Hope everyone is have and continues to have a great weekend. Tomorrow is Andrew's best friend's 2nd birthday so we get to go to lake and eat cake! Twofer!

OOTD, Roostario!

Today I wore jeans to work! Although it is allowed at my place of employment to occasionally wear jeans(as long as you look pulled together and polished), it is something that I rarely do. I feel more professional in a skirt or dress pants. Today however I wanted to mix it up so I wore my faithful Target Jegguns.

Head to toe:

Necklace: gift from Lindsey
Blouse: Target
Camisole: Old Navy
Jegguns: Target
Shoes: Stein Mart
Clutch:Thrifted

Whew! It was bright out today! I have worn these shoes on the blog before, but I repeat my shoes often.

This Awesome necklace was a Christmas gift from my friend Lindsey last year, I am a huge fan of chickens and this little gem is something special. My Bff Mitzie calls it my Gilded Cock and I love the reaction I get when people realize I have a rooster around my neck.

Haha Roostario is so cute! Speaking of so cute, yesterday I went to my family's mechanic shop to get my oil changed and my step dad wrote this on my sticker

If you cant understand his scratch, it says heart u! Makes me smile.

Alex and I are going to the greatest pace on earth tomorrow with one of our favorite couples. WATER WORLD!! I grew up about 7 blocks from WW but my husband and friends have never been there!

Have a great weekend.

OOTD Sandra and me.

Hello! I have been having a tough time keeping up with my blog already! We have been thinking about buying a new house so I have been obsessively pouring over homes on Realtor.com and watching even more "House Hunters" than usual. I got my shit together enough to take a few pics today.

Here is a nice Wednesday look. What exactly makes it a Wednesday look? Well, today IS Wednesday!
Head to Toe:
Earrings: Tiffany & CO, MOH gift from Mitzie
Tee:Nordstrom Rack
Belt:Thrifted
Skirt:Target
Shoes:Mother in law

Most of my OOTD posts are of me at work, since I worked at a salon I am standing most days so I wear the same shoes over and over. They have to be cute and comfortable. I like these although they are a little low for me, I prefer a heel, it reminds me to stand up straight.

Trying to loosen up here and take cuter post photos. I think I may need to try a self timer shot. Maybe I can get some cute ones like Elycia and Kayla use on their blogs.

How is my hair looking to you people? Today a client said to me "I used to wear my hair like that in the 80's" I kinda like 80's stuff, but I wasn't sure if that was a compliment?

I love these beautiful earring, they are one of the best gifts that I have ever received, but as with most dangly earrings, they hurt my damn ears.

I thought That Sandra looked especially cute today so I asked her if I could put her up on the blog! Here is Sandra's OOTD!

It wasn't super hot in Denver today and her awesome boots made my longing for all things fall, even worse. I could seriously hurt someone for a pumpkin latte.

Here's a close up these boots, Sandra has been wondering if she should buy a good pair of cowboy boots, so since a good pair are pretty pricy ($200-$500) she has these pair on loan from a friend to see if they work for her.

Hope that everyone had a good Wednesday! And to ensure that you have a great Thursday, here is a pic of our salon Clone Trooper doing his best Micheal Jackson impersonation.
